Boozy Peach Cobbler Milkshake

Anytime of the year is a great time to enjoy a milkshake! Milkshakes are a delicious treat that are great when enjoyed on their own, as part of a meal, or used to enjoy with fries. If you, for some reason, have not tried this last one, you are missing out. The salty and sweet, hot and cold is such a classic and simply delicious combination! Anyway, milkshakes are a delicious treat that anyone can enjoy, whether you are 5 or 95! However, some milkshakes are in their own delicious category reserved for those of us who are over 21 and enjoy partaking in an adult beverage. These milkshakes are referred to as spiked, adult, and boozy, to name a few. When made well, the alcohol can perfectly complement the flavor of the ice cream and other ingredients that are added to this delectable, sweet elixir.

This yummy milkshake is ready to enjoy!

For this particular boozy milkshake, I decided to make peach cobbler my flavor profile. This left the question of which alcohol I should pair with it. After some consideration, I landed on bourbon because I know that it is an alcohol popular in the South, where peach cobbler is also popular. In addition, cinnamon, the spice I like to add to both my streusel topping and cooked peaches pairs nicely with bourbon, so that solidified my decision to use this alcohol. Upon tasting, I confirmed that bourbon is a great spirit for this milkshake because it complements the flavors of the peach and streusel while, at the same time, not overwhelming these flavors.

Cook the Peaches:

Peaches Ready for the Milkshake!

Dice or brunoise the peaches and set aside. Add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 6 tablespoons of brown sugar to a saucepan and place on the stove on a medium-high heat. As the butter and sugar melt, stir them together. Once they are fully incorporated, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and the peaches. Turn the heat to medium-low and allow the peaches to simmer for approximately 10-15 minutes. Place in an air-tight container, let the peach mixture cool for about 15-20 minutes, and then place the lid on the container and set it in the refrigerator. These peaches are best made ahead of time so that they have time to cool in the refrigerator.

Rim the Glass:

Add ½ – 1 cup of white chocolate to a microwave safe bowl. Place the chocolate in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Remove the bowl from the microwave, stir, and place back into the microwave. Continue to heat the chocolate in 15-20 second increments, making sure to stir in between, until the white chocolate is fully melted. Take your milkshake glass and dip into the white chocolate, making sure that the top inch or so gets fully coated. Next, place some of the streusel topping on a plate and gently roll the milkshake glass into the crumbs until the white chocolate is fully coated. Do this for both glasses and set them aside. Tip: If too thick of a layer of white chocolate is added to the glass, it may not set as quickly and end up running down the glass a little once the streusel crumbs are added. To avoid this from ruining the look of the glass, turn the glasses upside down on a piece of parchment paper until the chocolate sets.

Making the Milkshake:

Add the ice cream, bourbon, cooked peaches, and ½ cup streusel topping to a blender and blend until the mixture is smooth. Add ¼ cup of streusel topping and stir into the milkshake. Pour into your glasses until they are full to the top. Sprinkle with a little bit of streusel topping for garnish and these are ready to enjoy!
